Special 'Devil Wears Prada' Event to Take Place in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, April 9 (NA) — Amidst the anticipation for the premiere of "The Devil Wears Prada 2", the city of Buenos Aires will host a special avant-garde event that combines fashion, art, and cinema at the Museum of Latin American Art (MALBA).

According to a statement accessed by the Argentine News Agency, the event, scheduled for April 28, is part of the "Gala Couture" initiative, driven by the Argentine Haute Couture Week (SAC), founded by Elina Costantini, in collaboration with 20th Century Studios. This production aims to comprehensively transform the museum with a set design inspired by the film's universe and the world of editorial work, aligning with the aesthetic that defined the original film and returns in the sequel starring Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.

The presentation, in collaboration with 20th Century Studios, will feature live music, performances, and an immersive tour that seeks to recreate the visual codes of the fashion industry in dialogue with cinema. "The goal is to create an unprecedented space where fashion intertwines with other artistic disciplines and expresses itself for what it is: a way of feeling art in all its expressions. Initiatives like this allow us to project Argentine fashion on an international stage," stated Costantini.

The announcement comes in a context of renewed interest in the franchise, following reports that the new installment will address the crisis of print media and the paradigm shift in the fashion universe, in addition to the return of the original cast to their iconic characters at Runway magazine.

Meanwhile, the production has also been in the spotlight due to decisions related on-screen representation: it was reported that Hathaway advocated for the inclusion of models with more diverse body types, in line with an updated industry perspective. The film, directed by David Frankel and written by Aline Brosh McKenna, is set to premiere in theaters on April 30, two decades after the original film became a cultural phenomenon.
